An iron that does Curling and straightening both?

hi, i've seen so many youtube videos on how to curl your hair with a flat iron with rounded edges. ex: http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Sleek-Cu鈥?/a> (remington sleek and curl)

I can't seem to find it at my nearest target. but walmart has something similar http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d鈥?/a> (remingto professional hair straightener)

i only want to get it if it works for both straightening and curling.... can anybody out there help me or tell me if it'll work on curling? thank you!!!An iron that does Curling and straightening both?
You can get a con-air curling iron. It's round edges like a curling iron but in the middle it opens to a flat iron. There really inexpensive you can get them from a sally, target, walmart,t j max. Its like $20.An iron that does Curling and straightening both?
Look for a thin barrel, all hair straighteners can curl hair, its the way you use them that will make the curls, not the straightener itself, it only provides the heat.

GHDs are the industry standard but are not cheap and many others will work :)
it def works, I have the Chi iron which is expensive but its worth it.. i actually got it on ebay for cheaper
Any flat iron that is one of those skinny ones will curl or straight.
i use my chi to both straighten and curl my hair

u get get a slightly curled perm and that would give it body r even color wash to put some more weight to it and it will be easier to control and hold curl. Good Luck!!! and Merry Christmas!!
Bumble and Bumble ';Prep'; spray layered under B%26amp;B ';Thickening'; spray
use mousse it keeps it up
blow dry it up side down and make sure that the dryer hits the roots
use olive oil once in 3 days
Use Sunsilk Anti-Flat shampoo. Then use Sunsilk Anti-Flat conditioner. Then finish with Sunsilk Anti-Flat Weightless Volumizing Creme. Dry your roots with you hair flipped over.

  • Can someone good with hair help me out?

So I'm not to great with hair. But sometimes I let my friend do it. She's curled it twice, once with a curling iron, once with a flat iron. My hair is shoulder length with a lot of layers, but because it's really thick, I always end up with crazy Shirley Temple curls. How can I get the pretty loose curls that girls wear to school? THANKS (:Can someone good with hair help me out?
start with thinning your hair out. you can get thinning sheers at your local sallys. then use a flat iron with little to no product. if your hair is dry try using a conditioning like oil on your hair. if it is oily try not using conditioner. also. try starting the curl by your ear. with a thicker iron. or for the more messy waves. allow your hair to be wet up in a pony tail. let it down like an hour before you are going somewhere. and just add a little mouseCan someone good with hair help me out?
    Scrunch it!

Or only curl the ends, not all the way up to the top, and volumize the top using a boar-bristle brush and hairspray.
    scrunch it

THIS WILL BE PERFECT FOR YOU! Try this product by pantene! http://www.pantene.com/en-US/product/curls_curllockhairsprayflexholdnonaerosol.jspxHow can I get my curls to stay in my hair?
Spritz a small amount of light hairspray on your hair before curling it. Then use a freezing spray after you are done styling. Also try using a sulfate free or curling shampoo. Avoid products that contain silicone or other ingredients ending with -cone because they can weigh your hair down and pull the curl out faster. I know you said your hair is naturally straight but check out this site for products and info on keeping curls www.naturallycurly.com

I've also read somewhere to avoid products labeled as humectants because they can sometimes weigh fine hair down.
heat protect spray works really for me i use chi straight guard you can buy it at target

i also really like biolage by matrix and i just get that at my salon (my neighbor)

p.s. if you are using suave shampoo and conditioner that maybe be part of the problem
haha ok listen, I got a perm. That's a great alternative too..but anyway, If I were you, I'd curl it at night, then mouse it up, then use special gell for curly hair, then clip it up, hairspray it and sleep on it and Voila =] curls out to wazu!

How to I style my shoulder length hair?

OK, here is the scoop: I have one-length hair just past my shoulders. I have bangs, just normal run on the mill bangs. My hair is mostly straight, just a slight wave to it. Medium thickness. It is healthy with little damage. I try to avoid using blow dryers, curling irons, and flat irons because I want to keep it healthy.

I only have a little time in the mornings to style my hair. I am an elementary school teacher, and I need a quick, easy professional hair style. I'd like to keep my length so I can clip my hair back on occasion. But as it is, its very boring.

Any suggestions for a new hair style or cut?How to I style my shoulder length hair?
make sure its layered, because then...you can have a shower, towel dry it, brush it and you wouldn't have to do much else with it, it would sit nicely all on its own...of course a little colour...perhaps some hair clips or a flower in your hair would set it off nicely...layered hair always sits really well..up or down...How to I style my shoulder length hair?
Perhaps have a stylist cut some layers in the back and take a few inches off, and around your your face.
razor cut bob would look great. it would add movement and texture.

styling would be a breeze. just a bit of styling wax ( a light one.) on the ends and you're done. or a bit of styling spray for texture and definition.
Maybe you could get layers cut into your hair? if you find your hair boring and want to change it up a bit, then you could also just go for a different color with the aid of dye. if you continue to keep away from flat irons, curlers, and other forms of hair torture, then the dye really won't sacrifice the health of your hair to any extreme.

I'd have dozens of other suggestions, except you said that you're an elementary school teacher and need a professional style, so..

    good luck ^^;

How can i crimp curly hair?

I have really frizzy, thick, curly hair. I always wanted to crimp my hair. I have look up ways but they never focus on girls with curly hair. So what would the best way be. I had ';Afro'; hair, the kind that no matter how relaxer cream I put it still came out the same. my friend told me to go to the salon, relax my hair %26amp; have them straighten it whilst my hair is half dry. Did that %26amp; now I have nice straight, strong, long %26amp; silky hair.

You should try it %26amp; make sure that when they stretch your hair, they take small amounts of hair that way, they won't miss any curly hair.

    Good luck.!
Lol You should first straighten your hair with this stuff called silk therepy, it comes in a clear bottle, but it on each layer of hair your goiin to streighten, then streighten it , then crimp it, so you dont damage your hair...

If you dont have $ for slik therapy, then use a leave in conditioner spray :)

    hope this helps
You would straiten it First, but use a heat protectant spray or gel or whatever and some kind of leave in hair conditioner so that your hair wont increase in Frizzy-ness. It would probably take you a while because you have a lot and curly hair, but Im sure it will look good after all the time and effort is put into it!
well even if you have a instylerl, you wont be able to crimp your hair.

    try a different FLAT iron.

no rounded rotating iron, get a flat ironn.

    try something like a chi.

    :P hope it helps.
straighten it first, then crimp it. make sure you have agood crimper though, if it's cheap chances are it wont work that well, good luck and dont forget the hairspray!

You have 2 questions on here.....Seventeen's method is spiral curling...

the hair is spiral curled.....they do have actual spiral curling irons and the way a spiral works is the hair is placed differently on the curling rod.....if curling with a syling product still doesn't work, you could try spiraling it on those hot sticks (benders) that are like curlers but long and skinny.

Go to a good salon and see if a stylist there can do it and show you how it's done.

To me waving is more like Madonna's or Fergies

When is it safe to flat iron a perm?

How long should I wait to flat iron my perm? I know it sounds silly wanting to straighten it after I just got it - but on one hand I just got the perm to give my hair body so I want to wear it striaght but retain the volume I get with the curls.. but I also want the option of leaving it curly. If I flat iron it, will it flatten my curls for good- or is it a chemicla thing, it doesnt matter? Other perm tips? When is it safe to flat iron a perm?
wait 3-5 days. if u dont wait, it wont get rid of the curls, it will just damage ur hair. make-sure to apply hair serums especially made to prevent hair damage when using hot hair appliances. When is it safe to flat iron a perm?
wait at least 3 days .then flatten all u want.

    variety is good.
i waited a week, but it doesnt hurt it. it may damage your hair a little bit and cause it to dry out so be sure to condition it good when you do.
doesnt matter. but not too much because it can cause damage
I get perms just to have more body to my hair too, actually. It's perfectly fine to iron down your curls! I do it every morning, especially now that my curls are starting to grow out. The curls may eventually lose a little definition but not so much that is makes an outrageous difference. The worst that will happen is they will just become more ';wavy'; than ';curly';. Good luck with ironing!
How long since the perm? Give it a few days rest then go crazy with the flat iron. Be sure to get a heat protectant spray that is for chemically treated hair. Flat ironing your hair after such a traumatic process as a perm could really dry your hair out. Make sure to get shampoo and conditioner (professional is best) that is for dyed or chemically treated hair. You want to make sure your hair doesn't fall out. Drink lots of water, take vitamins, maybe wash your hair every other day, and your hair will be just fine!

How to get soft silky curls by hot styling?

Since I layered my hair, styling with heat has become more frequent and my hair is quite damaged at the ends. Therefore, when I use my flat iron to curl my hair, my curls don't look very shiny or silky. Is there anything to rejuvinate my hair? I know somewhere I have olive hair masks or something.. will those restore my hair? How to get soft silky curls by hot styling?
Use silicone drops! They instantly make your hair feel and look healthy and shiny. I like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum or any other hair serum from other product lines, they're all pretty similar. ALSO, don't kill your hair with heat! Rinse your hair in cold water right before getting out of the shower. Use heat protector spray, like Tresemme Heat Tamer, before you blow dry. And try to blow dry on the warm setting, not the hot setting. How to get soft silky curls by hot styling?
Okay, dont use straightening irons and dont use curling tongs

You actually need the old fashioned way of good old curlers or use the heat styling tool which was made for curling only... yu know like babyliss angel curls or something. Hope Ive Helped :)
I don't know if this will work 4 u but it does 4 me

use a hair moisturizer from the ear down and make sure u use lots on the ends. leave it to soak in for about 5-10 min then curl your hair. use a finishing shine hairspray which u can buy from your local chemists and put as much on as u want!
try a leave in conditioner! it sorts my hair out and i chemically straighten mine! :) just spray in when wet then agen when using your flat iron!

    How can i permanently smooth?

I have naturally curly frizzy out of control hair. I have become pretty good at styling hair for the simple fact that if I wasn't my hair would be nuts. My problem is that it takes a lot of time to do anything with my hair because to flat iron or curl it with a curling iron or hot curlers or anything i have to blow dry it relatively straight first or it won't work out. Does anyone know anyways to smooth out my hair permanently or in a more timely way so that it is ready to be styled? How can i permanently smooth?
there's this lady in my aerobic class that told me to get a perm and then buy a wide toothed comb and comb it out.. now whether or not that works and I really don't know how it would... I have naturally curly hair, but I have always had it chemically straightened. IT is costly in the salons but I was fortunate to have a friend who was a hair dresser do it out of her home.

In answer to the first response you got, if I washed it at night and let it dry overnight, it be one ugly mess ( bird's nest ) in the morning. I don't recommend that..

The only thing that comes across is that you need to find a product that would smooth out your hair. When you find that product, let me know. I no longer have the girl to do my hair and they salons water down their products too much for it to work in my hair. plus their expensive.

well it's a good thing you protect your hair from heat. Use Mane 'n Tail shampoo and conditioner. It was fetured in 17 magazine to make your hair softer and shiner. It's proven to make your hair grow a little faster. But don't think its a miricle. If your hair grows 1/4-1/2 in. in 1 month thats really fast. At 1st i thought it was pet shampoo but i was wrong. So don't think this is a joke. lol. Don't brush your hair 100 times a day or in the shower while wet. This makes you bald. hope it helps

I rarely heat style my hair. The natural look suits me just fine. However when I do use heat styling(flat iron and curling irons) i am left with a burnt smell. Don't heat style in the first place. How do I get rid of the burnt scent from my hair after I heat style it?
Perfume!!!!!!!! The smell is so annoying, I know, so I always put perfume in my hair and it covers up the smell
If your hair is smelling burnt you probably need to turn down your curling iron. My hair is really frizzy sometimes so I thought it would take a lot of heat, but now I use a lower setting and ceramic and I dont have that smell anymore. Lightly spraing your hair with oil sheen b/f styling helps and as for products Doo Gro is my fav. They have a really light oil that is really good. I usually dont put oils or grease in my hair but this one is light enough to just make hair shine. Hope this helps.

PS- i'm looking for curls that are like this.. http://www.evilbeetgossip.com/wp-content鈥?/a>A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?
I have straight hair the same length as yours and there are a number of different ways to curl your hair. Here are some of my techniques:

    1. Hot rollers - they seem old fashioned but the work really well to give big soft curls like in the picture - they take about 15 minutes to put in and then you leave them in for 15 minutes (while applying make-up) then take 5 minutes to take out - it will take some practice but it works well once you have the hang of it.

    2. Not sure what they're called but they are cold, bendy sticks and you wrap your hair around them and coil it into a bun and either sleep on it or blow dry it and that also produces a nice curl and is fairly easy

    3. Scrunching... easy and fast - I apply a texturising spray to my wet hair and scrunch pieces of it under the hairdryer and you get a messy, beachy look which is not like your picture but different types of curls are good.

    4. straightening iron (ghds are fantastic) - it took me a while to get the hang of the motion but there are two ways to produce curls with it that I find effective.

    - taking a piece of hair at the scalp and clamping it, then you twist the straightener one revolution and pull through the length of your hair or you can start half way to produce curls only at the bottom

    - or you can clamp a piece at your scalp and turn it 180 degrees and pull it down for about 5cm then turn it the other way 180degrees all the way down the piece of hair and that also creates a nice wave

    - if you combine the two methods you get a natural look and once you've practised, you will learn variations

    5. Last super easy method is to put your hair in a few buns on your head and blow dry each one for a few minutes and that also gives beachy waves.

I have limp fine hair and it took my years to work out what would hold curls in.... you can buy volumising mousse or spritzes that you put in your hair before curling which work really well. I use garnier XXL volume which is fantastic. I use a texturising spray on my curls which also makes the waves look good but if you want a more perfect looking style like in your picture, I would suggest curling or volume mousse before styling and then a light hairspray to hold because you don't want it to look unnaturally glued together or to weigh the curls down.A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?
use a strainer that what i use then pull them down to drop them a little it will stay for the whole day
You can skip the leave-in conditioner; Heat protectant sprays have a conditioning agent.

After towel-drying your hair, spray heat protectant (Tresemme is great, and very reasonable) generously over your hair. Then apply a curl-defining gel-- or mousse, if your hair is fine-- (Tresemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel or Flawless Curls Mousse) through your hair. Comb through with fingers to ensure even distribution. Blow dry straight with a round brush, or upside-down, to give your hair some body.

After your hair is dry and you've finished curling, spritz with a dry hairspray (like Aussie Sprunch Aerosol, or Tresemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist).
There are video out there show you how to do that:

Ok, so this looks really simple, like you just take your curling iron to the ends of you hair and curl, right? Well I tried and as usual I came up with something totally different. So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong... The result of my attempt was a sort of flipped out look at the ends of my hair instead of ringlets. Could this be because I already flat-ironed my hair to get rid of the natural frizz and weird wave? Or is my curling iron the wrong size (a medium barrel)? If you have any advice please let me know! I wonder how they would look with rollers. Any tips without using thickining shampoo ectHow do I thickin African American hair?
Is your hair naturally thin or has it been thinned out due to breakage and chemicals like relaxers? If the former then you might be able to take hair vitamins, I heard they can thicken hair strands, I don't think permanently, though. If your hair is unnaturally thinning then I suggest you either stop relaxing or stop using so much heat (flat irons).

No, rollers will not thicken your hair strands. You can tease your hair and it might *look* thicker.

How can I fix my dry and damaged hair cheaply?

I've had some problems with my hair being dry and damaged in the past and it's starting again. I want to grow my hair out but I can't because it keeps getting dry and gets split ends and I have to start all over. It's currently about 3 inches past my shoulders and I've been trying to grow it down to my chest but it's taking forever.

    My normal hair routine.

    1. I wash my hair every other day to keep from over washing, unless I need to

    2. I don't bunch my hair up in the shower, I just wash the scalp and rinse with warm water

    3. After I use shampoo, I put in conditioner and leave it in for about 10 minutes and then rinse out with cooler water

    4. I let my hair air dry and I use my fingers to untangle it and then brush it

    5. Once it's dry and if it is frizzy I put some frizzy stuff in and it, or if it feels really dry I put it in because it also moisturizes it some

    6. I don't curl or flat iron my hair. I only flat iron it when I'm getting dressed up or some of my hair is sticking up and I can't make it stay down

    7. I brush it before I go to sleep, when I wake up and a few times during the day.

I use whatever shampoo and conditioner my mom buys and I ask her to get the ones thats for dry hair. (VO5, silkience, sometimes suave, and white rain). I have redken smooth down ( I use it as heat protection, to mousterize, and to controll frizz). I also drink a lot of water.

So am I doing things right? Do I need to change products? What more can I do?How can I fix my dry and damaged hair cheaply?
i have the same issue.but recently ive been using new products and my hair has been more healthier.first off its def better to get trims every 4-6 weeks to get off the dead ends.believe it or not that actually helps the hair grow faster because if you let it grow and dont get it cut for a couple months then you will have to get more cut off because it will be so dead.so get daily trims.2nd ive recently swictched over to garnier frutisse and its the best shampoo.it makes hair shiny and healthy.ive used just about every shampoo in the book ,even expensive ones but this is the best.i use garnier in length and strength.it works well.they also have it for moisture and nutrition, whatever you want.so def go get that and switch over.then use a moisturizer.ive been using nuetrogena triple moisture. it really helps your dry hair.you just put it on in the shower after washing your hair and leave it on a few minutes .also chi products work well.there a little pricey but they work well.i def agree redken smooth down is good i use that.but i do know that it can make hair greasy looking and any products that have alchohal or anything can dry it out more.def remain staying away from hot irons and dying your hair for a little while.it should be back to normal after doing all this. How can I fix my dry and damaged hair cheaply?
How can your hair be dried out? You are taking good care not exposing it to heat from irons and hairdryers. You can try skipping one more day between washes (if roots don't get oily too fast). I am guessing you have curly hair. If so, it tends to be dry. You can try leaving a leave in conditioner in it or not rinsing your conditioner out completely (rinse about 90% out). Stay away from styling products with alcohol and use a moisturizing mousse. Wear hats out in the sun and rinse hair immediatly after swimming. Hope something I added here works.

If your hair is still very dry, you may want to look at your diet and see if you are deficient in something.
it sounds ok. mayb u just got like corser hair. like some people got like really soft hair and others hair it not soft. id go to like a hair salon or somethin and ask them adn see if they recomed anything.

whenever i tryed suave and white rain it dryed my hair out. iv never used a vo5 shampoo but i use a leav in conditioner of it and i love it. u should try nexuus shampoo. it works really good.
I would advise you to not iron much often if you do and stick with one shampoo/conditioner since my hair used to be like that and then fall off more often. All the chemicals and ingredients in differnet shampoos/conditoners gets to make your hair rough and get split ends, which causes it. It would help if your conditoner had pantheynol in it too.
Get better products! Its gonna be expensive but is it worth healthier looking hair? The best conditioner Ive ever used is Biolage Conditioning Balm. I also like Bedhead After Party for heat protection/moisturizer. Its pretty pricey, but worth it... Also getting trims often helps keep hair healthy, even if youre trying to grow it out.
Try putting mayonnaise on your wet hair once a week. Wrap with a warm towel and leave it on for about 30 minutes.
for you.. my favorite is Moroccan oil products

    My hair keeps uncurling?

Sometimes I curl my hair for school, using my flat iron. When I'm just finished, the end product is beautiful and i super happy with how it turns out. but i just can't get it to stay, no matter how much hair spray/hair products I use. By the time I get to school, my hair is totally flat and all clumped together because of my hair spray. My hair isn't even straight naturally! Do you guys have any tips on how to keep it staying curly throughout the whole school day? And are they any other ways to curl my hair? [I don't have a curling iron.]

    My hair keeps uncurling?
    instead of that use...

    1) plait every bit of your hair b4 you go to sleep and then leave it over night and undo the plaits b4 you to school, and then use firm hold spray.

    2) use curling tons

    3) mousse it. and give it a chance to setMy hair keeps uncurling?
Put mousse in it while it's wet then dry and style followed by hairspray

  • How to style medium to long straight hair?

When I say style I don't mean how to do a bun. What I mean is: Are there any way to blow dry medium to long hair that would be cute? Is it cute to have deep waves? Is there anyway to give my hair just a little texture with a flat iron or medium curling iron? How to style medium to long straight hair?
well the way i give my hair volume and texture is usually by curling it, and when i do want my hair curly i have 2 options on doing so. 1, wash my hair and just wear it curly, or 2, curl it with a curling iron, for you i would say go with the curling iron or after you wash your hair and your blow drying it out, use a comb brush that looks like a cylinder (i forgot what it was called) and blow dry your hair like that and your hair comes out a wavy curly pattern, depending on how you blow dried it.

Hope i helped =]How to style medium to long straight hair?
i think you should cut it
always use a cream that doesnt let the flat iron burn your hair. my choice and what i use is frutius garnier or herbal essence (the best) anyways with a flat iron i would usually flip it downwards to add curves at the bottom. =) it comes out nice and it looks simple and cute =]
Okay..For the really awesome looking and pretty hairstyles that you see around now, use either plastic or Velcro rollers. Also, its better for your hair, the style lasts longer and you can style it in different ways. This yahoo group has tons of pictures of the latest hairstyles. It takes a little patience because there are so many pictures to view. It might be of help. The link to click on is below.

    Curling iron ??

ok...i need to know how to curl my hair with a regular curling iron (not a flat iron one) so can comeone plzz tell me how to everytime i do it, it comes out wrong....Curling iron ??
You heat up the curling iron to the hotest setting. (thats the best one. ;D)

You wait 5 mins then your ready. you take about 2 inches of your hair and push the rest back in a pony tail.

Then you take the curling iron, open it,put it at the tipppittiptip bottom part of your hair and you roll i up. (either wayy. But it will come out differtn depedning on which way you do it. if you do it in you get curls on the inside and if you do it out you get them flipped outward.) So you turn the curling iron and roll it up to the top of the hair (not to your head so you dont burn yourself) and you hold it there for about 2-3 minutes. So you do that all around your head. Always hold it for AT LEAST 2 mins or it wont stay all day. Dont brush it afterwards just let them fall. And you may want to spray it with hairspray to make it spray more. Then your done. ;DD

    Hope i helped.Curling iron ??
Totally its so easy once you get the hang of it....... you just take the clippy thing on the end of a good size strand of hair then you just twist it up for 10 seconds then feel the hair to make sure its hott enought then.... while you are still holding it twist the curling iron so it faces straight up and down then gentley pull it down while you hair is still attached to the clippy thing and voila CURL
take small pieces of ur hair and wrap it around the curling iron. when ur wrapping it around u take the curling iron and attach it 2 the end of the hair and start 2 twirl from the bottom up. keep it in 4 about a minute each . if u want the curls 2 be like perfect u should straighten ur hair 1st. if u want the style 2 last really long then u need 2 put hair spray. IF UR USING HAIRSPRAY MAKE SURE THE BOTTLE IS AT LEAST A FOOT AWAY. if u hold it up 2 close then ur hair will b a sticky mess
you tube has a lot of tutorials. check it out.
ok i hope that this video helped you as much as it helped me
if you want spiral curls you can use hot rollers and put them in vertically or if you have a barrel curling iron you have to manually wrap ypur hair around and maybe use some hold spray and hold for about 8 seconds and if you have spiral rollers you can put these in after you use the curling iron at night and they should curly in the morning

What are the Best Products for Natural African American Hair?

I have been natural for over 4 years now but I still have never mastered how to properly care for my hair. I have natural, very tight coils/curls in my hair that tend to be dry and poofy. I normally just wear my hair in a TWA or curl my hair for a nice curly fro. Here's an exampke of my type of hair (not me tho):

    http://www.folica.com/images/reviews/7/687-hairstyles.jpg

I use l'oreal shampoo and conditioner for dry hair and the TLC Sunsilk deep conditioner. Sometimes i use African Pride hair oil and Protectiv hair creme.

What products work best to maintain moisture and health in my type of hair? I find that i have no shine in my hair, what can I do to give it luster? Also, what can i use to straighten it occasionally? Are there actually no-chemical, no-damage ';perms';? Otherwise, what is the best flat iron for my hair? And what products give bounce and shine?

BTW, i refuse to use products with petroleum or mineral oil so don't bother in telling me to ';grease'; my hair. What are the Best Products for Natural African American Hair?

I have a Flat Iron, I try to create waves, and only HALF successful!?

So, I use a Chi flat iron. I don't like the thing despite the many raving reviews people give it. 1. it fails at keeping hair straight all day 2. pulls my hair 3. seems hard for me to create waves.

Yesterday I washed my hair. I used a deep conditioner from Avon called planet spa. After that I towel dried my hair. I have very thick, long, wavy, dark brown hair. The thing is, I love my wavy hair when it is done drying! BUT it's frizzy, and when I brush it the waves are suddenly gone and barely wavy. So I decided to look on youtube or google how to get waves with a chi flat iron. I tried EVERYTHING. I clamped the flat iron on a section of hair, rotated it 180, pulled it down, and....STRAIGHT HAIR. It WASN'T like it was in the youtube video! ??? so where did I go wrong? Also, I tried to wrap my hair around the plates and then pull down as shown in another video...the flat iron didn't glide down like the video showed, it was actually STUCK. It wouldn't budge it was wrapped around so much! I don't live with my mother, so I never knew how to keep hair looking good in humidity or how to straighten or curl hair at all. So I really need this information or some advice on how to make my hair better and actually be able to create waves without my hair being stuck or doing the opposite and straightening. Or, maybe an answer on how to keep the waves when my hair is done drying?I have a Flat Iron, I try to create waves, and only HALF successful!?
when you get out of the shower, scrunch a mousse for wavy hair (garnier makes a great one!) into you hair and let it dry. it will be wavy but the frizz should be gone.

My hair always looks stringy and flat?

I have long, coarse hair. I love the look of full curls (think carrie underwood) but everytime I curl it with an iron, it looks flat and stringy. How do i get the volumous curls - minus the nasty flyaways and flatness?

How can I get the natural Afro curl to come back after flat ironing.?

I went to this high priced salon to have my hair straighten for the 1st time in 6mo. Well she used a cast iron straighter and it was so straight it looked like a relaxer, but when I washed it a few days later there where patches that where still straight. I went to see the stylest and she said that my hair would go back after a few washings. Well its been almost 2 weeks and 4 washings and my head still has straight patches. I am afraid it will never be curly again and I will have to cut it and grow it out again. I am so upset! Please help with info on how to get my afro back. P.S. If you live in St.Louis Mo. washing it might help.
I suggest to keep washing it, and when you do wash it, get a shampoo for curly hair. It might take the straight out of it. just remember dont over do it, because you have really dry hair. and very prone to breakage. always put some leave in conditioner in it. hope i helped!

How often can I use my flat iron?

My hair is really short right now, and Im currently growing it out. I shampoo once at night, and condition it every morning, all with Pantene extra straight shampoo and conditioner, but it curls on the ends, so I use my flat iron about 5 days a week, I do have a heat protectant spray that I spray on my hair, but I just dont want to dry my hair out, how often can I flat Iron it? my iron is ceramic.

    Please let me know.

Thanks. How often can I use my flat iron?
You can ask ur stylist!! Or if u want my opinion, u can use it everyday, but always put something on it before u do so , so u protect ur hair!!

But, that's just what my sisiter says, so u deciede if u can trust me or not? Hope I helped!!!! Good Luck, I hope i don't make ur hair fall out, an cause ur hair to fall out! LOLHow often can I use my flat iron?
It depends on how healthy your hair is. if its really thin or has a lot of breakage then i would advise you not use the flatiron more than once every four days. As long as you use a straightening serum on your hair before you flatiron you should be okay for the most part. I would advise you use Biolage smoothing serum, Biosilk heat protector, or Silky sexy hair frizz eliminator. All very good. You can go to any Beauty salon and buy these products and maybe even get introduced to others. The damage that comes from flatironing your hair can also come from your flatiron. if you have normal to thick hair i would advise that it heat up to about 450, and ceramic is very good :) if it does not heat up to as much you might have to repeatedly flatiron one particular section which can in turn will cause more damage. So you can flatiron every day, but if you notice some problems just do it when you want to have the straight-look ;) oh and btw, don't ever buy a product that says sold in salons only in a regular drug store or supermarket... they're probably contaminated. Good luck!!

    CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?

Ok so a lot of the thin (like 1';) straighteners are also said to be used for curling your hair. I just purchased a ULTRA CHI 1'; %26amp; was wondering if anyone has tried to do it %26amp; how it works. its definetly good for flipping the bottom of your hair, ive tried that. how does the curling work? what do you do? also....anyone else have this flat iron? Its an ULTRA CHI 1';, red, %26amp; it came with a pouch to carry it in %26amp; a lil bottle of the silk infusion! that made me happy. lol. it was like $159.00

Thanks guys!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
I have used my chi straigtener to curl my hair and it works and looks greatt!..i dont think its the ultra but it shouldnt make a difference. a lot of my friends think its hard to do it..but its actually really easy once you get the hang of it. all you have to do is clamp your hair as if you were straightening it and then use both of your hands to twist/rotate it around. it should create a good curl..if its too spiral for you, you can lightly straighten it and it should ease it down. you also want to do a larger chunk of hair because if you do a lot of little ones, it might look funny!! haha and once your done make sure you separate the curls so it looks natural! :) good luck!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
Wow, this will be hard to explain but will try my best. Grab small sections of your hair. Start half way, place the hair in the flat iron, then begin twisting while working yourself down the ends. Walk into any beauty supply store that sells flat irons the sales rep should be able to show you how. That's what I did %26amp; now I curl my hair all the time with a flat iron (works much better than a curling iron). Looks great!

or simply buy a curling iron, also i recommend treseme products

    -hoped i helped
There are a multitude of videos showing how to do it, and they don't always work that well.

There are only two things that will reshape your hair: water and heat. You should try to set your hair on rollers. THe size depends on the size of the curl you want. But once you have placed your hair into a shape you like, and let it dry fully and completely, it will stay that way until you get water into the hair again. If you live in a humid area, that may be quite fast. But the trick is to be sure your hair is completely and fully dry. A hood-type dryer is best -- air drying just takes way too long.

You can use a curling iron. The heat will reshape the hair on the inside, along with some moisture -- when it is fully cool, the hair will stay in that shape. But again, you need to know how to curl the hair with the hot irons -- you can make permanent damage with too much heat (curling or straightening).

If your hair won't curl either way, you may have broken up the hair inside from too much heat, and you will never get it to curl now. You can destroy the strength from too high a heat on the flat irons.

The safest thing to do is set it on rollers. It is much cheaper too. Use some styling aids, and make sure it is completely dry before removing and styling.

  • How to get curly hair fast and easy?

I have long, thick, dark, wavy hair. Sometimes I would like to curl it. I know a curling iron is the obvious but what are some other options? I know you can do it with a flat iron but I've tried and it's too hard. I got one curl which was a fluke. I don't want to use any products that require me to have wet hair before I can curl it. I just want something I can use on dry hair quick when I need to. Hairspray would be good. Help me please? How to get curly hair fast and easy?
Put mouse in your wet hair, and use a diffuser attachment for your blowdryer. They are cheap and sooo much less time consuming then 'scruntching' As you go along spray the section you are using the diffuser on, and blow dry that portion, be prepared it's going to be super curly! How to get curly hair fast and easy?
I have the same hair, thick, dark and wavy, but not enough to keep the curl once it dries. What I have used on dry hair is a combo of hot rollers and curling iron. I set the bottom half of my hair on rollers and keep them in while I curl the top with the iron. It takes longer, but it looks good and holds until the next wash. Also, definitely use hair spray after u curl it. On wet hair, the best thing for me is to put a handful of moose (herbal essence works great, cuz it doesn't weigh hair down) and then dry my hair up-side-down with a diffuser. I also use my hand to kinda scrunch hair up a the same time. This method works best for me and the curls don't look forced. Hope this helps.
Well you could use hot rollers and they don't require you to have wet hair before you use them. You could use them at any time, basically. Just remember though, when you do use them, you wanna keep them in your hair for at least 15 - 20 minutes just to really lock the curls in and then when your hair's done, make sure to use a good amount of hairspray. :)
well I don't know if this helps

but when you get out of the shower

    and you comb you're hair

crunch it up and curl it with you hands..

and when it gets dry it will be curly

just put product in it as well; gel, hair spray, leave in conditioner etc..
I'm license hairstylist, there is only curling iron, flat irons, or roller sets. Other wise you have to do it when its wet. Hairspray will not make your hair curl, it will keep the curl in.

Which curlers and straighteners are the best ';kinds you could buy at walmart/ the web or somewhat cheap but not $200 dollars worth.'; And how long with your prouducts do your curly hair last?

And most of all the best hair spray?

and any tips or advice would be appreciated...

    Thank you SOOO much....

if that whole ten points thing really matters to you. lolHair crisis!!! Curling irons, straighting irons, hairspray OH MY!?
1)You always use heat protection serums BEFORE you use any kind of heat. Blow-dryers count by the way.

2)Flat irons and Straightener's are the same thing.

3)Conair is a good company, not too pricey and their available in wal-mart as well. Conair sells Curling Irons, and Flat irons. For curling irons, their are different inches. But if you have a bigger budget you can try using the company BabyLiss, or Chi their really good. The bigger the inch number is for curling irons the bigger the curls turn out. If you have a small-sized head you'd want a smaller barrel for the curls. You can also go to your hairdresser about things like these, or if you don't have one you can go to a hair salon and ask questions there as well.

    4) Well, it depends on how well you curl your hair, and what kind of hairspray do you use. The company matter's as well. If you really want your curls to last, you can buy Tresemme 24 hour body hairspray.

Can I have best answer? :DHair crisis!!! Curling irons, straighting irons, hairspray OH MY!?

and any tips or advice would be appreciated...
flat iron(u could alsoo use it for curling and crimping/wavy and it would look more natural): i have the corioliss classic pro straightener and it works great! a lot of my friends have the Chi so i probably recommend that one too. i dont own a curlign iron sry.

heat protectent: ur suppose to use it before u use heat appliances on ur hair. thats the point of it! it would be useless if u applied it after.

hairspray: Big Sexy Hair or Got 2B volumionous spray. it would help to get ur curls in 1/2-2 days if u get the right one for ur hair.

tips: try to limit the number of time u use heat on ur hair. even with the heat protectent and other products, it will dry out ur hair and leave ur hair frizzy. that includes the hair dryer. it sucks all the moisture out of ur hair. also when curling the front chunks of hair, curl it away from ur face or else it will be in ur face (so annoying) and ur face will get more oily which causes acne. also dont ever curly or straighten ur hair if it has a lot of hair products in it especially hairs spray. ur curls would end up demented and wouldnt glide down smoothly. it would also wreck ur iron. if u want to curl ur hair with a flat iron, get a 1';. ps. that what i use.

products i use: got 2b smoothing lustre lotion (something like that), got 2b smoothign mousse, tressame heat protectent spray (amazing and it smells good), biosilk: silk therapy (good for the frizziness but only sold at salons and it smells OK), and got 2B voluminous hair spray.
For a straightening Iron I suggest a Chi but they are a little pricey so a good ceramic plated one (not ceramic coated) will work. Apply the serum before you straighten so it protects your hair since the irons get so hot.

Try to get a porcelain ceramic curling iron.

Your curls will last depending on your hair and the humidity and the products used. Try using mousse or gel when damp before your curl it.

For a really strong holding hair spray I like Spray Adhesive by Joico. It doesn't feel heavy on your hair but it will stand up to a lot of wind and keep your style a long time. Depending on the humidity in your area there are several good humidity resistant hair sprays out there also.

    Curling hair?

My hair is naturally straight, but with all the layers it comes

out wavy (the out of control type of wavy) unless I straighten it.

    Past my shoulders too.

    Anyways, how can you curl your hair without using an iron. D;

I've tried using my flat iron to curl my hair, but it turned out super messy. Braids don't work for me either,

and my only solution are rollers.

I don't have any hot rollers but I do have the ones that don't heat up. Can you put your hair up in those while your hair is wet and blow dry it? Will it work?Curling hair?
there are products such as sunsilk waves of envy, or curl enchancers and srunch spray. if you use srunch or curling spray, spray a little on a piece of hair while its wet, then twist it around your finger and blow dry it on cool or warm air, and it should come out curly, or take a small round brush and twist it around thatCurling hair?
no it wont work if you have it wet you need to sleep in them

Do curling irons work with everyone?

so im planning to get one tomorrow.

and i wen to youtube and stuff on how to curl your hair with a flat iron.

tried it and it doesnt work with me.

so im planning to buy a curling iron.

but does that work with everyone's hair?

well i have like thick hair.

like most asians do(not trying to be racist)

    so yeahh,.

thanksDo curling irons work with everyone?
yeah just make sure you get the highest temperate one

or you could try it when its almost dry but not all the wayDo curling irons work with everyone?
Yeah I tried to get my hair to curl with a flat iron too, it didn't work. a curling iron should work, because you can do it in sections so your hair isn't so thick. It will take a bit of practice though. It took me like 4 times till I could actually get it right. Get a curling iron depending on the curls you want. If you want just a giant wave type thing, get a 3 1/2 inch one. If you want small waves, like http://www.funfolly.com/g/w/w1218ad.gif then get a 1/2 inch curling iron. If you want loose curls, like http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L2xQX5qyQlw/SP鈥?/a> get around an inch curling iron.
You can't curl your hair with a flat iron because the heat doesn't go to the entire lock of hair. Get the curling iron, if it's thick hair your curles will stay for longer.

Yeah, it works for everyone. People with natural curly hair have to use a flat iron and then the curling iron to get the curles they want. You'll be fine.

I bought one last week and it works perfectly for me! (I have A LOT of very thick hair)

    Good Luck!

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090822195636AAWiN1y
yes curling irons work on everyone. i went to cosmetology school for 2 years and just graduated. if you have think hair, make sure u use thinner sections. and use hairspray to keep them in longer. it is really hard to curl hair with a straightener.. its like only the salon professionals know how to do it perfectly! lol. so the curling iron will work. oh any by the way... asians usually have thin hair =]
as for curling it think twice about a curling iron, I'd use a flat iron just because its better for you hair, its quicker and easier.

Try this tutorial out so you can see what I''m talking about:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB1npokA2

Its for curling ur hair with the flat iron.
i would suggest going into a hair salon. there are proffessional curling irons that work AMAZINGLY, wihtout damaging the hair for the same approximate cost of a conair for example.

look for a ceramic curling iron with a HIGH heat.
Yes, curling irons work on everyone but you may need to use more hairspray or something to maintain the curls. You're supposed to spray some in your hair before you start and brush it through.
Most but not all hair but it shud with ur hair
Yes it might take longer than thiner hair though

How do you use the Chi Flat Iron?

I have pretty straight hair, and use it for touch ups, but I want to find out how to curl my hair with it. I know you can, I just really want to find out how!

Thanks in advance! How do you use the Chi Flat Iron?
    i use a chi too...

section your hair then if you want you can get this special kind of spray made especially for your chi and spray it evenly on the section your curling. then wave your hair from root to tip. it works well... keep repeating till your done. then put chi silk infusion. have fun!!!How do you use the Chi Flat Iron?
hey nice name u got there!

oh, about the question....no clue sory :(

How do you get curls at the ends of you hair to last?

I have thick layered hair so I usually flat iron the top and curl the ends using a chi. After I finish I spray my ends with Redken Forceful 23 but about an hour later the curls are gone. Will spraying each individual curl make it last or do you all know of any other products that will make it last. Or could it be that since my hair is thick and long the weight pulls the curls out?How do you get curls at the ends of you hair to last?
Make the curls really tight. How do you get curls at the ends of you hair to last?
ask your hair dresser. they have all kinds of tricky products! ';threads'; might make a product that would work for holding curls better! im sure they'll recommend something for under $20 and it would be soooo worth it
I am the exact same way. I have long black thick hair, But i have found that using the walmart brand of hairspray works. It is called, ';freeze-it';. When you are curling your hair, spray massive amounts of it.
Go to the barber shop and tell them to perm only the bottom,or just use lots of hairspray, gell,or moose!
    i have the same problem!

what i do is, when i am curling my hair, i put a really really small dab of Herbal Essence max hold Gel on each section, the Herbal Essence doesn't make ur hair crispy tho which is good!

after i am all done, i either spray Herbal Essence extra hold Hairspray or White Rain hairspray!

    good luck
When you take the chunk of hair that you are about to curl, spray it.

Then when curling it, keep the curlers (or straighteners) there for 30 seconds.

When you're done, spray again. Lots.

You can never use too much hairspray :)

How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?

I'm getting my first flat iron and I really like CHI's Pink Dazzle one, which has a one year warranty (do they last?). I heard CHI irons are energy efficient (20-25 watts) and cause less damage than some other brands' irons because their irons have ceramic coils instead of copper. So anyway, here's what I want to know:

    1. Are they good at preventing damage?

    2. How's the quality; are they sturdy and do they last?

    3. Are the flat irons good for waving your hair?

And since I have no experience with flat irons, I have some questions about using them:

    1. What products should I apply before using them and to maintain the curls/waves afterwards (ie. heat protectant, serums, hairspray)?

    2. What is the best way/technique to curl my hair?

    3. Is it easy to burn yourself and should I prevent that?

    4. Can I use the flat iron on my hair when it's wet and will that lessen the damage even more and dry it, too (I know some irons have built-in blow dryers -- I don't think the one I like does, though, but wouldn't the heat still dry it a bit)?

Also, money's not an issue; I'm not searching for a cheaper alternative unless you have used CHI irons (correctly) and think they're plain rubbish.

Sorry about all of the questions and thanks to everyone who answers =].How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
Ok..so I've been flat ironing my hair for 4 years..i have gone through many products..many flat irons and many blow dryers !!

funny enough..my last flat iron was the chi !!..i also had a years warranty but what happened was it doesn't work anymore..it wont heat up and the wire is all messed..i took super good care of it and i only had it for 8 months. since i got it from a salon..they said i couldn't get my $$ back..blah blah

chi's are really excellent flat iron..they work great on wavy to extreme curly hair..but so do a lot of other flat irons..the new flat iron i got is vidal sasson for course hair..its AWESOME :D

chi isn't worth it to me :P

to flat iron your hair.. separate it in sections..do your under hair first..clip the rest up..then your middle and then your top..it will insure you get every strand and part of your hair. go from the begging of the root to the end slowly. And use a flat brush (minimizes frizz ;D)

ALWAYS BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR BEFORE FLAT IRONING IT!!!!!! loll...flat ironing wet hair will create sooooo much damage trust! blow dry your hair in sections or as is but spray in a heat protective or a heat protective cream(apply when hair is wet)

a good trick that i do to keep frizz down, make my hair shine and seal the strands..is when your in the shower you probs shower in warm water..so before your done..put the water a bit colder..and rinse out your hair. (:

hope i helped..good luck and remember true beauty comes from confidence and being yourself(:How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
First, please don't straighten your hair when it's wet. Sooo bad for it.

I would definately recommend a CHI. Use a conditioning product (I'd recommend Paul Mitchell's Strength Super Strong Liquid Treatment) before you blow out your hair and then a heat spray when you are styling (Paul Mitchell's Hot Off The Press). It'll help hold the style and keep your hair in it's best condition.

It's hard to explain exactly how to do it so I found a youtube video that should give you a pretty good idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv-JSQbcu鈥?/a>

  • How can I keep my hair curled?

So I have very thick frizzy hair so the only two ways to wear my hair down is either straightened or I have to put all kinds of products in it for it to lay down.

anywho when I straighten it there is absolutely no volume and when I try to curl it with a large barrel curling iron it only lasts for an hour or so.

is there a certain kind of hairspray or product that can help keep curls in? But I don't put any product in my hair when I flat iron it because it just makes it hard or greasy.

Anyways thanks for any and all advise! How can I keep my hair curled?
    try hairspray or mousse

or put in curlers or braids of somesort and sleep with it

i know what you mean, my hair doesn't stay curled when i curl it either ..but what works best for me is curling a long time ahead of when i want it/when i go out and then keep re curling during that the ime period before i go, example: if i am going out at 8, then at 7 i will curl it ..then after every once in awhile around (15 mins) i go re curl it again, and before i go i do it a last time and add hairspray

but this doesnt work well if you dont have the time

rollers work best if you leave it in the night, it will keep a curl definately

How do i straighten my hair?

i have black hair that gets kinda frizzy and curls up if i do nothing for a while. we have come to the conclusion that i look good with straight hair rather that short hair or curly hair. it is time...How do i curl my hair?? no flat irons and heat. i will use some products and shampoos and i will use pretty much any combs or brushes so...how can i achieve this goal.??How do i straighten my hair?
okay well this is what I do... Use conditioner and shampoo that strictly says *to get straight hair* or something. Do as followed on the bottle and if it says shampoo twice, do it.

After your hair dries it should be a little less curly... Yes I know you don't want heat like a flat iron, but there's only like one other way,

Blowdry it straight. Otherwise you will need to straighten it.

Oh I almost forgot. If you do end up straightening it with a flat iron, do it in sections slowely, so it gets straighter

Oh and right after I take my shower I use hairspray to keep it a little straighter. Also if you take showers at night, put it in a ponytail overnight while you sleep! How do i straighten my hair?

Hello! Okay so here is the secret to Taylor Swift Hair!

    1.

    a. If you must have a protector try to find one designed by Loreal! They always do a great job! If not I know Tresemme has plenty.

    b. If you follow step number two (on shampoo and whatnot) you will not need a protector!

    2.

    a. Shampoo: Loreal Vive Pro Shampoo for Fine Hair That Needs Volume

    b. Conditioner: Loreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Conditioner for Very Dry/Damaged Hair

    c. Only put on the conditioner to the ends else it will weigh your ends down!

    d. Even if your hair is not damaged still use that product so your hair won't be dead.

    3.

    a. To get Taylor Swift hair you need to use a curling iron and if you use the pas products suggested it will not burn!

    b. Curl your hair all the from the tips to your ROOTS (this is a very critical part) if your roots aren't curled your look will not work.

    c. Leave your hair in the ringlets you've created (it should look flat and ugly lol don't touch them!) and spray it down with hair spray.

    d. Next tease your roots just a little then flip your hair over and go crazy! Haha than do whatever with it. Viola! Your hair is gorgeous!

    4.

    a. DON'T USE SPONGE CURLERS! It just doesn't work honey trust me.

    5.

    a. Your hair is not going to grow two to three inches over the break no matter what you do.

    6.

    a. I would just go with Conair.

    b. Honestly it doesn't matter though!

Okay! I haven't heard of number seven before! Sorry! (Omg girlfriend this whole thing got erased and I re-typed it just to make your hair look good! Dang I'm a good friend hahaha. Okay well tell me how that works out for ya! =) Happy styling!

It looks like for a couple of pieces of hair she used a big curling iron but for most of it she used a normal size curling iron. Just don't brush through it and use really good hairspray like the one from CHI, their maximum hold hairspray. I believe you can get this at HEB.
get a skinny straigner then get a piece of hair and turn it in, youtube it theres alot of tutorials

Is it possible that my hair can't hold a curl?

I have really thick curly hair and I have to curl my hair with a thin flat iron. When I finish my hair looks really good but after 10-20 minutes it falls. My cousins do this and it stay in overnight! So is it a problem with my hair?

Why do you curl your hair if it's naturally curly? did you mean naturally straight? Because if that's the case, my hair doesn't hold a curl without 10 tons of hairspray or I have to sleep with curlers overnight. (my hair is straight)
its possible your hair is too thick it just is too heavy

    - but maybe its the TYPE of curling iron you have?

Your hair lacks moisture! That is why it is too dry. I bet it is brittle and breaking too. It sounds like you need a deep conditioning also on a regular basis. You should deep condition your hair every time you wash it. You are using the wrong products on you hair (that's why it is too soft, I bet you are using the leave in conditioners). You have damaged hair (a relaxer, I bet?) Stop buying that cheap **** and be careful about those chemicals. Please check out this website. I have ordered and used the moisturizer and the conditioner. My hair does not break off like it used to. I also purshased the book, which I ordered from Border's book store because I had a gift card. I use the Apoghee shampoo for damaged hair (purchased at Sally's). Order the conditioning treatment from this website and use it faithfully and wash your hair as suggested in this website -- every three days or at least once a week. Get the book and become informed. We African Americans (men and women) need to learn how to care for our hair and sad to say, sometimes, the beauticians give us bad advice. What works for Caucasians is not what we need. Read the testimonals on this website. Get educated. You may even decide to stop going to the beauty shop. Let me know what you think after reading this website. It is very informative to say the least. The products on this page were created by an African American woman who had the same problems you described. She proves you can grow your hair 6 inches in a year. Oh, also, try taking vitamins for your hair too. You can get those at Sally's. There are various brands, but I used the Follicure.
Pantene for Color is a good washing product but the best is Kera Care. It is pretty expensive but it's worth it, it detangles good also. Both will maintain your hair's body. Try not to use holding sprays and oil sheen. The best gloss is a thin liquid gloss in the bottle that you can squeeze in your hand and rub through you hair. It wont weigh your hair down and it's very light. I always roller set my hair and wear a bonnet or wrap it at night. It's easy to maintain. For a straight look you can just flatiron it. Good luck.
Use the same products as your stylist (Affirm, Mizani, etc.). Ask your stylist to show you how to maintain your style if you wash it before returning to her.

    I have the same question.

    You should for one.

Straighten your hair and sleep on it straight.

    Then in the morning.

Use a curling iron to make curls, and twist them around your finger and then bobby pin the twists to your head.

After your hair is all clipped up, hair spray a light layer around your head.

Then release the bobby pins for nice full curls. (make sure you don't use too much hairspray or it will be sticky and stiff)

If you want to do it at night and then sleep on it,

then just touch up what fell out in the morning.

cut about 4-5 inches off and the curls should pop back up
Shave her head; it will probably grow back curlier than ever!
could you cut a bit off, like to the shoulders?

my naturally curly hair gets heavy as it gets longer and pulls the curls out but a cut restores the curl because the weight is reduced

Wavy Hair Look? Cant get it right?

So, i wanted a cute little classy flirty wavy look. I have a 3 in a haf inch curling iron and a 1 inch and a 3 inch. None of the work, Only my 3 in a haf inch wich makes my curls SUPER DEE DUPER tight. My 3 barrel does nothing at all, and my 1 inch doesnt make my hair curly either. I turn it up to the highest setting. Still nothing. My hair is STICK STRAIGHT. Very very hard to curl. As soon as i put curls in they fall out instantly. Even with hairspray. Dead serious. Shower and when your hair is damp use a spray gel on your hair. Blow dry it and scrunch, it might not do much but it will help. Then i would say use your smallest or medium irons. Using hair spray every timee you curl a strand helps as well.

    4. Then, use the big curlers and put them in your hair for about an hour or two. Blow dry it lightly(with the curlers still in) ever 15 min

    4. Take the curlers out after the 2 hours.

    5. Shake your hair lightly once curlers are out.

    6. Brush the top of your hair to make the curls loose.

Good luck :]How do I get my hair to look like this?
Big curlers are probably the answer here. use a round brush when blow drying to get the volume you need and then use the big rollers to achieve the curls. Use a light touchable hairspray for hold.
well it helps if you have naturally curly hair, youre lucky!

and its actually fine if you dont have a curling iron, if you know how to curl with a flat iron then i think youre all set! oh and you'll need hairspray for sure. : ] pretty style too

Holding a curl made with a curling iron?

i have naturally curly hair, but i like the way big curls made with a curling iron look on people with straight hair. i've tried curling my hair with a curling iron and i've tried straightening it first and then curling it, but the curls fall flat either way and it looks like i just screwed up trying to straighten it. Any tips on how to make the curls stay and look nice?

i've tried tresseme hairspray and pantene hairspray and some other one, so please be specific, if you're answer is hairspray, i need a really extreme oneHolding a curl made with a curling iron?
pomade or a little gel and hair spray before and after you curl it. any by bed head. and check out the bed head curly hair line. it works well. and dont straighten it first. thats alot of unnecessary damage. just curl it like you would if you had straight hair.

I have that same problem. I have been told to use gel first, let it dry, then curl it. Finish with hairspray. I have wavy hair. It will stay straight for two days, but won't hold a curl.

Help with flat ironing my hair!?

I have been flat ironing my hair for almost 3 years now, and I have a really good ceramic one that my friend who does hair got at her supply store for me. I use gloss drops, and most of my hair looks great, except for some natural wave at the top by my roots that I can't seem to get strait for anything! Please help! Also, whenever my friend does my hair, she is able to curl it a little with the flat iron, and I can't seem to figure out how to do that.Help with flat ironing my hair!?

as for your roots, rub a straightening serum into your hair after you wash your hair and then carefully get as close to your roots as possible with your flat iron .Help with flat ironing my hair!?

What kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?

I'm always worried about my hair and messing with it.

My hair curls when it gets wet, and it's really frizzy and puffy curls too.

My flat iron is getting old and I need to buy a new one because I've noticed recently the decrease in it's ability to make it straight at all.

I want my hair to get almost pin straight, I hate curly hair on me.

So I need a flat iron that works and doesn't fry my hair or dry it out.

I heard of the Kiyoseki Styler on TV and I saw some people on here saying it works, but I'm still a little skeptic because it was on an infromercial and I know there are lots of scams on things like that.

    Does it really add shine?

How well does it straighten your hair?

    Does it help frizzy hair?

Do you recommend any other flat irons? Where can I get them? How much do they cost?

Please give me as many details as you possibly can. I'm very serious when it comes to my hair, haha. Thank you (:What kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?
    i use a conair.

its about 25 dollars at walmart and has an heat adjustment wheel too.

and i use loreal heat seeker straightening cream its to keep frizz down and curls awayWhat kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?
well I have had mine for 5 years! and it works as perfectly as it did when I bought it, it's a conair one.
I don't know about that one but if you're willing to spend tons of money on a flat iron get a Sedu or a Chi... I've heard they're quite good, though I haven't been able to try one myself.
    a CHI!

    A CHI!

    :)
Get a chi or a paul mitchell!!!! Its great and leaves your hair silky smooth!!!
a chi will have your hair board straight or a flat iron from sephora will last a very long time and will get your hair very very straight

Flat iron or mousse? (to make hair straight)?

I have really wavy hair and I have a flat iron, but get tired of doing it ever day and damaging hair even though I use protector products. I was wondering if straightening your hair with mousse is better, and does it stay in longer? I did it but had to wash my hair out that day. Also, how could you use the mousse to make hair really straight. I mean, I have try to make the roots straight but they always curl back. I usually do the mouse then straighten roots with the flat iron but it takes quite a while. If you have any other ideas of straightening hair well please tell me. Thanks!

or try http://www.hairproducts.com or hairquestions.comTips on de-curling products and TIPS on how to de-curl hair?
Ok, well with hair as curly as yours, you'll have to dry it first. Use a straightening/blow dry lotion, most pro products have one, but if you're shopping at the drug store Got2be has a good one called ';crazy sleek';. Then you're going to need to put a holding product in, like a mousse (gel is too heavy, hairspray is too sticky) and either put your hair in buns all over your head (6-10 is plenty, more buns for more waves), OR you could get some big velcro rollers (the width of the roller is how far apart the waves will be). Either way, 30 minutes should do the trick, using heat on them will help too and speed up the process. Good Luck and have fun!

    Curling my hair! Help!?

Hi, i curl my hair with a flat iron and do it this way.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w74e5aXrF鈥?/a>

But my problem is that as u can see in the video the curls all go the same direction (one side goes towards my face a the other curls away from my face). But the side that curls away looks better and idk how to curl my hair with a flat iron so that the other side curls away too. curling irons dont work for me and this is the only curling method with a straightener that actually curls my hair good. A video with this method but showing how to curl my hair outwards would be very helpful. or do u think it is fine as it is? Thanks everyone!Curling my hair! Help!?
if you want to curl your hair with a flat iron and want to get it in a different direction hold your flat iron upwards and twist in opposite direction of the rest. also if your having problems with using a curling iron it works much better if you don't use the clamp just wrap your hair around the curling iron long ways, spray with hairspray, hold for about 20 seconds and let go.

hope I helped!:)Curling my hair! Help!?
Personally I think its fine as it is.
just twist in the opposite direction

I have curly hair but no idea what to do with it! HELP?

I KNOW ITS ALOT BUT I'VE NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO DO ANYTHING WITH MY HAIR AND I REALLY NEED ANYBODY'S HELP!

Okay, so if you could help me in anyway possible that would be great! Whether it's some products I could use, or ways to do my hair... Okay, so here's the problem...

So when I was younger, my hair all fell out and I have been blessed and all my hair has grown back! The problem is, when all my friends learned how to straighten or curl their hair using a flat iron or a curling iron or even just putting product in to keep it from frizzing when we werea ll becoming teenagers (12, 13, 14), I was busy wearing a hat. Now that it has all grown in, and it has been like that for about a year and a half, I have only done one style-other than having it in a pony tail or up in a bun- Because my hair is naturally curly, when it is towel dried, I would put in gel and mousse and it would keep the curls and would keep the frizziness down to a good level. Then once, I got my hair cut and the lady straightened it and I was so happy! But other than that I have no idea what to do- or HOW to do it!

If anybody has curly hair, how do you keep care of it? Like, I wash mine, but once it dries it completely frizzes up and I can't possibly leave it down!

I would like to know how/when I should put in product, or what products. Also, I want to try straightening or curling/waving my hair with a flat iron or curling iron, but when should I do it? Right after I wash my hair-once it air dries? Or should I blow dry it, then straighten it etc... Although, when I blow dry- it gets very frizzy! So how do I do it? Steps, videos and little secrets would be very helpful.

Lastly, I was wondering if there was a serum or kind of product I could out in my hair that would keep it's natural wavyness/curlyness without frizzing... I've heard of ';leave-in'; conditioner- but does that really do anything?

    If it helps, I'm:

    *14

*My hair, when wet, hits about where my bra strap would, so about half way down my back.

    *It's brown/hazlenut in colour.

*I wash my hair every other day, except when I play sports, I would wash it that day.I have curly hair but no idea what to do with it! HELP?
ok theres a lot of things you can do with curly hair, be SOOOOO proud!!! u don't wanna overkill the lovely locks with all the heat and i know at 14 ur all ';my friends hair ....kewl'; but no, u'll love ur self more for it when u see the real health of ur curly hair. i advise u to get the split end mender from ';sallys beauty supply'; it works wonders and makes the hair feel so soft! and theres all kinds of serums you can put in it to keep it calm. they sell curls keep in conditioner and omg theres so much variety you can do with it!!! once you get done washing hair, comb it and put the leave in conditioner for it, or u know what helps a lot, just get the plain conditioner from the shower u use and leave it in there for extreme softness, the shampoo u use it very important too, always get the shampoo that says ';for dryness, breakage or chemically damaged hair'; bcuz it's stronger in correcting the curls and not letting the poof get the better of the curls. mousse is great for your hair too! so yeah when the hair is washed, just comb it, put the conditioner in it, and let it air dry, u'll be able to see the difference. the reason our hair is dry is bcuz since our hair is in a certain ';ringly'; shape, the oils don't get straight down as easily as straight hair, thats y ppl with straight hair have super shiny hair. but just follow those directions and see how it turns out! oh and hair shiners work great too! like shine serums make it look so pretty!I have curly hair but no idea what to do with it! HELP?
leave in conditioner makes your hair thick, do not blow dry your hair next time, jus make it dry naturally and make it a bit damp then add oil to it, and if you want, add gel.
i'm sorry, i cant help you on that..i have like the same hair, so if you get any info please share!!!
    idk
Ah, curly hair can be such a nightmare sometimes! What I do when I want to leave my hair curly is: Let it air dry if possible. If not, wait til it's at least just damp and blow dry it on low. Spray shine serum on it! It softens your hair and makes it have a healthy shine, and a lot of shine serums are also frizz reducers. Just run your fingers through your hair after that, maybe use a pick if you can. Scrunching your hair with your fingers also helps. As for the leave-in conditioner, I've had good luck with Garnier Fructisse's. Just make sure you don't use too much - it'll really weigh down your hair.
Here are some frizz tips for you!

    * A good haircut is key (find an expert here: http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlsalons鈥?/a>

    * Sleep on a satin pillowcase

    * Don't shampoo every day

    * Comb conditioner through hair in the shower

    * Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber instead

    * Air dry or use a diffuser

    * Use styling products suited for your hair type (http://www.naturallycurly.com/hair-types鈥?/a>

    * NEVER use a brush

    * Don't touch your hair

    * A pomade is great for mid-day touchups

    * Apply styling products to dripping wet hair

Check out http://www.naturallycurly.com for lots of great info about curly, wavy, kinky and textured hair!
hey love, girls think curls are a blessing, i think its a pain in the ***.

i have learned with my own hair that you can NOT brush your hair after

it has dried only brush curly hair when wet. to keep good curls

i use a million products.. my favorite is that new purple curling gel by herbal esscence..

i hope you know what im talking about.. its easy to find. put products on when your hair is damp.

as for straightening you NEED to get a protectant for your hair but i blow dry my hair first then straighten my hair. do it in layers.. it takes the kinks out better. you can do it after it is airdryed but i have found it harder for your hair to do what you want it to do that way.

i always mix an anti frizz( use small amounts) a gel and a mousse and go over it in a scrunching motion with my towell for keeping my hair unfrizzy. you dont need to buy the most expensive brands just have those three things.. goodluck sweetheart.
umm well there are many different options out there you just have to find the right one!

My hair is thick and course, and i am all black. :) But either way, maybe get one of those strong flat irons that go up to like 250 degrees like the CHI's or Amika's that you find in the mall :) Or just put on a head band on day and just be crazy. There is nothing wrong with all natural. Maybe ask your mom if a texturizer is an option for you. Making your hair smaller is the key to success. So maybe parting your hair in the middle and wearing half up and half down coulkd be pretty. Straightening your hair on rainy days is never good though, so maybe instead, put your hair up ina cute bun or something.

    Hope i helped! :)
my hair is just a little bit longer and is naturally wavy/curly. if you want to keep nice curls, put mousse in your hair right after you towel dry and brush (use the recommended amount on the back of the can) then put it up in a lowish bun before you go to bed. it will be a tiny bit wet when you wake up, so just spray it a tiny bit with an aerosol hairspray and you're set. the most important thing is to not mess with your hair that much during the day. i know its hard, but touching your hair causes frizzies.
