How can I make my hair flat and curly like this (pics inside), with a curling iron maybe?

My hair is naturally kind of frizzy/puffy, so I straighten it and use a shine formula to make it straight and silky. I need my hair to look like the girl in these pictures for like, one night only. Just kind of messy/curly at the bottom. So should I straighten my hair and try a curling iron (I have 3 diff. sizes) or put it into curlers and straighten the top only?



Also: how do you use a curling iron? xD because I own them, but never have used them before. Or should I just put my hair into braids over night and see how that goes? And what should I use to hold the curls in?



Sorry...that was a lot of questioning. But any help would be greatly appreciated, because I've always had my hair straight before and this is something new.

a few days before you are ready to go.I would pratice with curlers. Hot curlers or the kind you leave in overnight. If your hair is curly you need to use a flat iron on it first before the curlers. if you cant get it to work. Take the pic to the salon the day of your event and have them do it.
